Apostilles: fancy term for the state gov't to make sure the notary is legit on all the dossier papers - basically a notary of the notary, but hey, they put a shiny gold star on it :-)

Dossier (doss-ee-ay): pile of papers that gets sent to the foreign government with our official application to adopt one of their children - affectionately known as "The Beast"

EE: Eastern Europe - that's where Elijah and Jonathan were! Now since both adoptions are complete, we can say that they were in Ukraine.

Home Study: in-depth study of our home, family, and our financial ability to support a child

I-171H: a.k.a. "The Golden Ticket" - this piece of paper gives the go-ahead to adopt from the USCIS -usually the last piece of the dossier

I-600 A: Application for Advance Processing of Orphan Petition - used by US citizen who plans to adopt a foreign born child and generates I-171H approval

RR: Reece's Rainbow

SDA: State Department of Adoptions in Ukraine - Office where we go in country to get our referral to see our child.
